05/02/2022 – Green Smoothies for Hair Regrowth - By Kaylee McGrath

If you suffer from anxiety and stress, and unfortunately have a hair loss or hair thinning problem like me, I’ve researched and found some great “Green Smoothies” to help regrow and strengthen my hair. Additionally, having these smoothies provides me with extra vitamins and nutrients from vegetables that I normally do not eat or enjoy. Green smoothies are a way to get these great vitamins because they taste wonderful. One thing is for sure, optimal diet leads to optimal health, and optimal health gives you a longer life. For the next 2-weeks I will post some Green Smoothie recipes that will help you with your health and to rebuild your hair from hair loss/thinning caused by anxiety and stress.

Kale, Swiss Chard, and Spinach Smoothie

1-1 1/2 cup almond milk (plain or vanilla)

1 banana

1 tablespoon peanut butter

3 ice cubes

3 to 4 Kale leaves, Swiss Chard, and Spinach (cleaned, dried, trimmed, and broken up in 2-inch pieces)

frozen or fresh blueberries and strawberries (as much as you like for sweetness)

2 large scoops of protein powder (unflavored or vanilla)

Add all clean and trimmed green vegetables to blender

Add a ¼ cup of almond milk

Blend until fully smooth (no lumps)

Add the rest of the ingredients to the blender and continue to blend until smooth

The kale and other green veggies are loaded with vitamins A and C which improve the flow of blood to the scalp to help with growth. The protein from the peanut butter, protein powder, and greens is to give nutrients to the building blocks of the hair. Also, the blueberries assist in UV protection, and healing damaged follicles.

Cucumber, Avocado, and Lemon Smoothie

3 1/2 cups cucumber, unpeeled, chopped

1/2 of a medium to large avocado

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 tsp of fresh lemon juice

Pinch of salt

Pinch of ground black pepper

2 large scoops of protein powder (unflavored or vanilla)

Crushed ice

Lemon wedges, for garnish

Combine all the ingredients except ice and lemon wedges into a blender and blend smoothly. Then place crushed ice into a glass, pour in smoothie, then garnish with lemon wedges.

The cucumber gives the hair shine while Greek yogurt is for protein and our hair needs protein to rebuild damaged hair cuticles. The avocado is a super food provides vitamin E which will assist with hair regrowth. Lastly, the lemon juice treats dandruff and other minor scalp irritations.
