08/2/2021 – Real Fruit Slush Drinks and a Simple Lunch - By Kaylee McGrath

To continue some wonderful recipes, I found on the internet, listed below are some all-natural fruit slushies to enjoy in the summer or anytime. Great to serve to guests with lunch as a beverage, snack, or a dessert.

For a simple lunch with friends, cook up some hamburgers (either frozen or fresh ground meat), hotdogs, or grilled chicken on the grill. Packaged buns or potato roll buns. Packaged/washed/cleaned salad, grape tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, shredded taco blend cheese, sliced/cut apples, and serve in a large bowl. For the burgers add American cheese on top when almost done. Make sure you cook the burgers until medium well, not rare. Dressing on the side of your choice. You can use a George Foreman Grill like I do, or if you have experience with an outdoor grill…. but please be careful when using an outdoor grill. Chocolate Chip Cookies or Brownies are always good to serve for an added dessert.

Watermelon Slush

Ingredients:

5 cups diced seedless watermelon

2 tablespoons sugar

Juice of 1 lime, optional

Directions:

Combine watermelon, sugar, lime juice and 1 cup ice in blender until smooth.

Serve immediately.

Strawberry Slush

Ingredients:

2 cups quartered fresh strawberries

1/4 cup water (can also use coconut water, sparkling water or kombucha)

1 – 3 tbsp. honey (adjust to taste)

2 – 3 cups ice cubes

Instructions:

Place strawberries, water and honey into a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Tip: Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey and blending again. Remember that the sweetness level will be reduced once the ice is added.

Add the ice cubes to the blender. Blend on high until the mixture reaches the consistency of a slushie. Too thin? Add in some more ice. Too thick? Add a touch more water.

Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Blueberry and Strawberry Slush

Ingredients:

1 cup frozen blueberries

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 cup pineapple and orange juice blend

1 cup vanilla yogurt

2 teaspoons sugar

6 ice cubes

Instructions:

Place the blueberries, strawberries, juice, yogurt and sugar into the container of a blender. Process until smooth. Add the ice cubes, and process until small enough to fit through a straw, but large enough to crunch on. Pour into glasses, and drink through straws.

Until next time, stay safe and well!
